This child was a 4 yr old not a 7 yr old like previously written.Burlington City Nj Police Chief John Lazzarotti said the boy and a 16 yr old relative were crossing the highway at the High Street intersection at 5:15 pm when a northbound pickup truck driven by a man on a cell phone made a right hand turn on red and struck the boy.A witness at the accident scene said'the truck dragged the boy a short distance under its front bumper before it came to a complete stop.
Lazzarotti said the child was pronounced dead shortly after the accident. He said the relative accompanying the boy and the driver were not injured.Last month the Tri-State Transportation Campaign named Burlingtons County stretch of rte 130 and Atlantic Countys White Horse Pike as the 2 most damgerous roads in New Jersey for pedestrians.
